CHILDREN’S HEART PROJECT
Since Samaritan’s Purse began the project in 1997, approximately 1,000 boys and girls from thirteen countries (Albania, Bolivia, Bosnia, Ecuador, Honduras, Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, Mongolia, Nigeria, Sudan, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Nepal) have been brought to the United States and Canada for critically needed heart surgery.
WORLD MEDICAL MISSION
Founded in 1978, World Medical Mission supports mission hospitals and clinics by sending doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals for voluntary, short-term service. World Medical Mission also provides medical supplies, equipment, and technical support to sustain and improve medical care and operates a bio-medical department and warehouse to receive donated equipment and supplies. Equipment is refurbished for use in mission hospitals; and, despite often primitive conditions, staff technicians travel worldwide to enable hospitals to operate and maintain equipment. **World Medical Mission also offers the Post-Residency Program. The Program exists to encourage and mentor Christian physicians who are seeking to answer God’s call in their lives towards a career in medical missions. The Program supports young physicians immediately following the completion of their training, for two years, as they work within their specialty alongside career medical missionaries in evangelical mission hospitals … fostering the growth of a new generation of career medical missionaries who aims to bring both physical and spiritual healing to a hurting world.**
PRESCRIPTION FOR HOPE / INTERNATIONAL AIDS MINISTRY
Samaritan’s Purse programs have strengthened the Christian response to the HIV/AIDS pandemic by mobilizing church, corporate, and government resources, training educators, providing voluntary HIV testing and life-saving prevention information, compassionate care home visits, and Biblically-based counseling.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse has delivered the joy of Christmas to 124 million boys and girls in 159 countries through “Operation Christmas Child”, a project of Samaritan’s Purse. Caring individuals, churches, schools, and businesses in Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States fill ordinary shoe boxes with small toys, school supplies, candy, personal care items, and other gifts. Distribution Teams personally give the shoe boxes to children in hospitals, orphanages, refugee camps, homeless shelters, and impoverished neighborhoods around the world.
